ALEF Selects Its Seventeenth Class of Fellows
The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) has completed its selection process for the 2022 ALEF Quebec Class. This is the seventeenth year that ALEF has put together a group of young men and women from West Virginia who have extraordinary leadership, academic, and social skills and who have great potential to be the leaders in our communities, in government, and in our businesses. Each new Fellow exhibits the core values ALEF espouses – integrity, excellence, and service.

Zoe Bailey is from Shepherdstown, WV and attended Jefferson High School. She attends West Virginia University and majors in Computer Engineering. She was Captain of the softball team, a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and the marching band. Zoe was very active in community service and had excellent grades.
Tristan Burgess attends Marshall University and majors in Political Science. He is from Holden, WV and graduated from Logan High School. Tristan had excellent grades. He was President of the National Honor Society, active in sports (football, tennis, track and field), an officer in the National Beta Club, and involved in several community service activities.
Macie Cline is from Gilbert, WV and attended Man High School. She is attending Concord University and majoring in Psychology. Macie was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and was Captain of the Basketball Team in high school. She is currently a member of the Student Government Association at Concord University.
Erica Foreman is from Wardensville, WV and graduated from East Hardy High School. She is currently a sophomore at Shepherd University majoring in Secondary Education. She was active in high school as a member of the National Honor Society, student government, President of Future Business Leaders, and numerous other organizations. She is currently on the Dean’s List and in the SU Honors Program.
Cassidy Griffey is from Williamson, WV and graduated from Tug Valley High School. She attends Marshall University and majors in Biological Science. Cassidy was Vice President of the Student Government. She was active in sports, the Beta Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was also very active in many community service activities. Cassidy had outstanding grades.
Sam Lake is from Charles Town, WV and graduated from Hammond Hill Academy. He is attending Shepherd University and plans to go to medical school upon graduation. He is a Senator in the Student Government, a member of the SU Biology Honors Society, the SU Community Orchestra, and the SU Chemistry Society. Sam is heavily engaged in community service and has outstanding grades.
- Amelia Muscari graduated from Westside High School and is from Oceana, WV. She attends Concord University and is undecided with respect to a major. She had extraordinary grades. Amelia was President of her class, Co-Captain of the Cheer Team, a member of the golf and track and field teams. She was a member of the National Honor Society and very active in community service.
- Brody Nolte is from Beckley, WV and is currently attending WVU. He graduated from Bridgeport High School and is majoring in Political Science. He’s on the Dean’s and President’s List at WVU and is active in numerous campus activities.
- Brooke Ooten is from Lenore, WV and graduated from Logan High School. She had outstanding grades and attends Marshall University. She majosr in Biology. Brooke was a member of the student government, Beta Club (WV and school President), Key Club, the tennis team, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and several other organizations. She was active in community service.
- William Stanley is from Logan, WV and graduated from Logan High School. He attends Marshall University and majors in Civil Engineering. William was a member of the tennis team, the marching band (Drum Major), the Beta Club, the National Honor Society, and the National Engineering Honor Society. He had excellent grades.
Hannah Workman attends Marshall University and majors in Nursing. She is from Frankford, WV and graduated from Greenbrier East High School. She had excellent grades and was very active in sports (basketball and softball). Hannah was also a member of numerous high school and community service organizations.
