ALEF Selects Its Eleventh Class of Fellows

The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) has completed its selection process for the 2016 ALEF Kilo Class.  This is the eleventh year that ALEF has put together a group of young men and women from West Virginia who have extraordinary leadership, academic, and social skills and who have great potential to be the leaders in our communities, in government, and in our businesses.  Each new Fellow exhibited the core values ALEF espouses – integrity, excellence, and service.

2016 ALEF KiloClass: 

Kyra ClineAlexandria Brown graduated from James Monroe High School and lives in Peterstown, WV.  She will attend Concord University and will major in Pre-Pharmacy.  Alex was committed to excellence in high school and in her community.  She had outstanding grades and was constantly active in numerous community activities.  Alex also was an active student athletic and was a member of the State Champion volleyball team.  She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletics, and Future Business Leaders of America.

Kiersten DorityPayten Brown comes from Jesse, WV and graduated from Westside High School.  Payten will major in Communication Arts and will attend Concord University.  She was very active in high school and was a member of numerous organizations to include HiY, the Humanitarian Club, the National Honor Society, the Student Council, and was a member of the Westside Archery Team.  Payten also was very active in numerous community events and activities.  She had superb grades and never had a grade less than “A”.

Alison LoweHannah Crist comes from Ronceverte, WV and she will attend Concord University and major in Secondary Education.  She graduated from Greenbrier East High School.  She had extraordinary grades in high school.  Hannah was a member of the National Honor Society, the FCCLA where she was president, and numerous other high school organizations.  She was also very active in 4-H and other community activities. 

 

Carlie McCoyCarter Davis is from Harpers Ferry, WV and attended Martinsburg High School.  He will attend Shepherd University and major in Education.  Carter, like all our Fellows, had outstanding grades in high school.  He was a member of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletics, the Student Council, and many other high school organizations.  Carter is an extraordinary tennis player and won many individual awards and team championships. 

Kristin MaynardEmily Foote will major in Sociology and attend Shepherd University.  She is from Shenandoah Junction, WV and attended Jefferson High School.  Emily was very active in the Future Farmer of America and held numerous offices.  She won numerous academic awards and had exceptional grades.  Emily was also very active in community events and activities. 

Cory OsbornMolly Henry will attend Shepherd University and major in Graphic Design.  She is from Falling Waters, WV and attended Spring Mills High School.  She was the president of the Key Club and participated in numerous other high school activities.  Molly was also very active in community activities and contributed countless hours helping with community events.  Molly had superb grades in high school.

BryceRobinsonHunter Palmer is from Harpers Ferry, WV and attended Jefferson High School.  Hunter will major in Biology and attend Shepherd University.  His volunteer events and activities are too numerous to list, but he spent countless hours helping others.  Hunter was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.  He had excellent grades in high school.

 

Emily SerberFarrah Rose will attend Concord University and major in Pre- Chemistry.  She is from War, WV and attended River View High School.  She had a straight A average and was number one in her class.  She was very active throughout high school and was a member of numerous organizations to include the Key Club, the National Honor Society, the National Society of High School Scholars, and SADD Club. 

Samantha TuckwillerAlex Toler is from Logan, WV and attended Logan High School.  He will attend Marshall University and major in Civil Engineering.  Another student with extraordinary grades, Alex was also very active in high school sports to include baseball, football, basketball, and golf.  He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletics and the National Honor Society.  Alex also participated in many community events and services.

 

Samantha TuckwillerKasey Walls will attend Concord University and major in Biology.  She is from Matheny, WV and graduated from Westside High School.  Kasey has an extraordinary record of high school activities to include Student Council, the Fellowship of Christian Athletics, the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of American Club, and varsity softball.  Kasey was also very active in community events and activities – she committed dozens of hours each year to community service.  Kasey’s grades in high school were extraordinary.
