ALEF Selects Its Sixteenth Class of Fellows

The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) has completed its selection process for the 2021 ALEFPapa Class.  This is the sixteenth year that ALEF has put together a group of young men and women from West Virginia who have extraordinary leadership, academic, and social skills and who have great potential to be the leaders in our communities, in government, and in our businesses.  Each new Fellow exhibits the core values ALEF espouses – integrity, excellence, and service.

2021 ALEF Papa Class:

Braden Copley

Braden Copley graduated from Cabell Midland High School and will attend Marshall University.  He will major in nursing.  Braden is from Culloden, WV.  He had excellent grades and was a member of the National Honor Society.  He is also an Eagle Scout and was very active in school band.  Braden also was active in numerous school and community service events.

Nadia Johnson

Kaitlyn Copley is from Lenore, WV and graduated from Tug Valley High School.  She will attend Concord University and major in Biochemistry.  She has excellent grades.  Kaitlyn was active in sports and was a member of the Beta Club.

Conner Gibson

Connor Gibson is from Brenton, WV and graduated from Westside High School.  He will attend Concord University and major in Business Administration.  He played baseball and was Co-Captain of the football team in high school.  Connor was a member of the National Honor Society and had excellent grades.  He was also active in several community service activities.

Caroline Kayes

Daniel Gibson will attend Marshall University and major in Education.  He’s from Wharncliffe, WV and graduated from Mingo Central High School.  Daniel was a member of Beta Club, the Student Council and the Soccer Team.  He was very active in numerous school and community service projects.  Daniel had excellent grades.

Britany Cochran

Joshua Hatfield is from Verdunville, WV and graduated from Logan High School.  He will attend Marshall University and major in Computer Science.  He had excellent grades.  Joshua was President of the Student Government, a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, the Student Council, and numerous other high school organizations.  He was involved in multiple community service activities.

Rachel Mankins

Luke Jeffrey graduated from Logan High School and is from Logan, WV.  He will attend Marshall University and major in Accounting.  He had outstanding grades.  Luke was Captain of the Tennis Team, State President of the Beta Club, and was the West Virginia State Heisman Winner.  He was President of his class and a member of the Student Council.  Luke was deeply engaged in multiple community service activities.

Kyle Porter

Ashley McClure is from Barboursville, WV and graduated from Cabell Midland High School.  She will attend Marshall University and major in Communications.  She was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Beta Club.  Ashley had excellent grades.  She was also engaged in numerous community service activities.

Nickolas Shrewsbury

Kellie Walters will attend Marshall University and major in Pre-Med.  She is from Looneyville, WV and graduated from Roane County High School.  Kellie was a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Council.  She was very active in community activities and had excellent grades.
