ALEF Selects Its Fourteenth Class of Fellows
The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) has completed its selection process for the 2019 ALEF November Class. This is the fourteenth year that ALEF has put together a group of young men and women from West Virginia who have extraordinary leadership, academic, and social skills and who have great potential to be the leaders in our communities, in government, and in our businesses. Each new Fellow exhibited the core values ALEF espouses – integrity, excellence, and service.

Alex Banks is from Berkeley Springs, WV and currently attends Shepherd University. She graduated from Berkeley Springs High School and is majoring in Biology. She was captain of the cross country and track team in high school and a member of the National Honor Society. Alex is a 4.00 student at Shepherd University and a member of the Honors Program.
Bariana Bowman is from Bluefield, WV and graduated from Princeton High School. She is currently enrolled at West Virginia University and is majoring in Physics. She has outstanding grades and is very active in campus activities.
Chasity Francis is from Oceana WV. She graduated from Westside High School and will attend Concord University. Her major will be elementary education. Chasity was very active in community service and was a member of numerous organizations in school. She won many academic and leadership awards and had extraordinary grades – all A’s.
Zachary Hill attended Logan High School and is from Whitman, WV. He will attend Marshall University and major in biology/forensics. Zachary was active in numerous community and school activities. He had superb grades.
 Hannah Justice is from Princeton, WV. She graduated from Princeton High School and will attend Concord University and will major in chemistry. Hannah had excellent grades and was active in all elements of her community and high school.
 Malik Khan is from Inwood, WV and attended Musselman High School. He is attending Shepherd University and majoring in biology. Malik was born in Pakistan and moved to the US in the 6th grade. He had excellent grades in high school and was involved in numerous community service activities. He plans to go to medical school following college. He was active in many high school activities and has continued that pattern at Shepherd University.
 Keana McManus is from Falling Waters, WV. She graduated from Spring Mills High School and will attend Shepherd University. Keana will major in chemistry. She graduated first in her class and was active in numerous community and school activities.
 Hollie Nagy graduated from Mingo Central High School. She is from Gilbert, WV. Hollie will attend Concord University and major in psychology with a minor in social work. Hollie was a member of many school organizations and held leadership roles in all of them. She has superb grades, was active in numerous community service activities, and won many awards for leadership.
Chase Ooten is from Lenore, WV. He graduated from Logan High School. Chase will attend Marshall University and major in biomedical imaging. Chase was extremely active in high school organizations – he was often involved in a leadership roles. He has excellent grades and was very active in community service.
 Alexis Proklevich-Perry graduated from Logan High School and is from Madison, WV. She will attend Marshall University and major in communication disorders. She, like the rest of her class, has excellent grades. Alexis has an extraordinary record of leadership as a member of numerous academic and athletic organizations in high school. She received many awards and was very active in community service organizations.
Kaitlyn Rader will attend Shepherd University and will major in biology. She is from Hedgesville, WV and graduated from Spring Mills High School. Kaitlyn was deeply engaged in community service and very active in numerous high school organizations. She had many awards and honors resulting from these activities.
Hannah Shuff currently attends Concord University and is majoring in Special Education. She was a student athlete in high school and a member of the National Honor Society. Hannah was very active in community service and had excellent grades – as she currently has at Concord University.
 Austin Taylor is from Wharncliffe, WV and attended Mingo Central High School. He will attend Concord University and major in biology. Austin had excellent grades and was active in numerous community service activities. He also received numerous honors and awards.
 Jaelyn Wratchford currently attends Shepherd University and is a Biology major. She graduated from Spring Valley High School and is from Martinsburg, WV. She was very active in high school activities to include president of Student Government, captain of the basketball team, member of multiple other sports teams, and a member of the National Honor Society. Jaelyn continues to be deeply engaged in community service.
