ALEF Selects Its Tenth Class of Fellows
The Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation (ALEF) has completed its selection process for the 2015 ALEFJuliet Class. This is the tenth year that ALEF has put together a group of young men and women from West Virginia who have extraordinary leadership, academic, and social skills and who have great potential to be the leaders in our communities, in government, and in our businesses. Each new Fellow exhibited the core values ALEF espouses – integrity, excellence, and service.

Kyra Cline is from Gilbert, WV, graduated from Logan High School and will attend Concord University. She will major in Biology. Kyra had extraordinary grades in high school and was known nationally for her athletic ability. She was Captain of her varsity basketball team and made numerous national appearances involving amateur basketball events. She was a member of the National Honor Society and has several scholarships based on her academic achievements. Kyra was also heavily involved in numerous community services activities.
Kiersten Dority is from Welch, WV and attended James Monroe High School. She will attend Concord University and major in Physical Therapy. Kiersten had superb grades and was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletics, and deeply involved in Student Government where she held numerous elected positions. She also participated in both varsity basketball and softball where she was captain of both teams. Kiersten was selected as her school’s Homecoming Queen.
Allison Lowe will attend Concord University and major in Pre-Medicine. She is from Glennville, WV and attended James Monroe High School. Allison was selected a Miss Teen West Virginia in 2014 and was heavily engaged in community service. She had excellent grades and was a student athlete in numerous sports. She was Captain of her high school varsity track team. She was a member of Future Business Leaders of American and the International Travel Club.
Kristin Maynard will attend Marshall University where she will major Education. She is from Chapmanville, WV and graduated from Chapmanville High School. Kristin had superb grades in high school and was a member of the National Honor Society, the Math Honors Club, the National Society of High School Scholars, and the Key Club. Kristin was engaged in several community service activities.
 Carlie McCoy is from Huntington, WV and graduated from Spring Valley High School. She will attend Marshall University where she will major in Criminal Justice. Carlie has excellent grades and was heavily engaged in Junior ROTC in high school where she won numerous leadership awards. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honors Club, and participated in varsity volleyball. Carlie was deeply engaged in numerous community service activities.
Cory Osborn is from Hedgesville, WV and graduated from Berkley Springs High School. He will attend Shepherd University where he will major in Biology. He had excellent grades and participated in numerous high school sports activities to include varisty golf, basketball, and football. He was a member of the National Honor Society.
Bryce Robinson attended Westside High School and is from Clear Fork, WV. He will attend Concord University and major in Biology. Bryce had excellent grades in high school. His tenure at Westside High School was marked by leadership opportunities. He was President of the Student Council and Captain of the football team. He was also a member of the high school basketball team, the track team, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the National Honor Society.
Emily Serber graduated from James Monroe High School and lives in Greenville, WV. She will attend Concord University and major in Social Work. Emily had excellent grades and was deeply engaged in anything musical in high school. She was a member of the Marshall Honor Band, the Southern WV Honor Bank, and the Virginia Tech Honor Band. She was also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
